Burnley's Anass Zaroury is likely to replace injured Amine Harit for the World Cup.

The French football news site Foot Mercato claims that Belgian football player Anass Zaroury is one of the contenders to take Amine Harit's position in the Qatar World Cup lineup in case he gets injured.

On November 13, Harit of Olympique Marseille suffered a severe knee injury while playing AS Monaco. The midfielder's injury is anticipated to sideline him for a few months.

Walid Regragui, the head coach of Morocco, is now searching for a replacement for the midfielder, and Zaroury, a young international from Morocco and Belgium, has been mentioned as one of the prospective alternatives.

Zaroury is expected to sign with the Atlas Lions in Doha shortly after getting a letter from the Belgian federation confirming his move of allegiance from the Belgian national team to Morocco, according to Foot Mercato.

The winger, who is 22 years old, has been a member of numerous of Belgium's national youth teams. He made his international debut in 2017 with the U-17 divisions before spending the next four years with the U-18, U-19, and U-21 squads.

Zaroury is a player with Burnley in the British Championship, where he has eight goals and two assists on the year.

On October 27, Transfermarkt evaluated the player's market value to be €4 million.

Zaroury will join a group of six midfielders, including Sofyan Amrabat, Abdelhamid Sabiri, Selim Amallah, Azzedine Ounahi, Bilal El Khannouss, and Yahya Jebrane, if his nomination is approved.

Yahya Jabrane is the first Moroccan to play futsal and football at the World Cups.

The official squad, which included elite athletes like Yassine Bounou, Achraf Hakimi, Abderrazak Hamdallah, Zakaria Aboukhal, and Hakim Ziyech, was unveiled by Regragui on November 10.

The Atlas Lions travelled to Qatar last week aboard a Royal Air Maroc plane in order to get ready for the competition. Local Moroccan fans welcomed the squad with open arms. In recent days, videos of the Moroccan celebrations in Doha have become popular on social media.

Harit and his father are anticipated to attend the celebrations in Qatar soon. The international player intends to go to Qatar to strengthen the team morale, according to recent sources.
